SEO Is Dead

Recently I was reading a few articles which made the claim that SEO is dead. Web 2.0 community sites are so popular that people might not get traffic from search engine. This might be the reason that make people thinking SEO is dead.

The fact is SEO is in the red ocean and is getting harder and harder to compete with others. Whether you believe or not, search engine optimization is still alive.

For me, I strongly disagree SEO is dead. There are a few reasons I say so.

First, I started this blog about 1 month ago and I’m enjoying around 170 visitors daily. Close to 40% of my visitors are from search engines. If SEO is dead, then how can I get so many visitors from search engines especially Google?

Second, SEO is not an easy and simple job. It takes effort to get high rankings in search engines. You need to learn how to analyze what keywords are worth optimizing for, how to write the content around those keywords, how to get external links and many more. All you need is the right knowledge. Perhaps those people who claimed search engine optimization is dead never learn the knowledge.

Third, as you know, social networking and social bookmarking are hot and attracts many eyeballs. Many people are spending efforts just to get traffic from social media sites but not optimizing their websites for search engines. Needless to say, they are getting far less traffic from search engines. In fact SEO is not dead, it is their choice of not choosing search engines to be their traffic source.

Fouth, in order to get excellent SEO results, you need to be consistent. Link building as one of the important SEO process required you to spend long-term effort. You won’t get high rankings or first page rankings overnight for competitive keywords. You need to have proper strategy to fight against your competitors.

Finally, I’d like to repeat again, SEO is not dead. My suggestion is prepare your mindset, learn the required knowledge and apply them. Be consistent and you are going to enjoy big success!
