Twitter Tips To Increase Website Traffic

Twitter has became a good traffic source for website ownder since it’s rapidly growing into the mainstream starting from last year. Many bloggers and website owners has been successful employed Twitter strategy to increase website traffic and archieve their marketing purposes.

In my previous post, I’ve talked about the 50 Twitter tips and Twitter secrets. In this post, I’d like to share with you 6 Twitter tips helping you to increase website traffic.

Tip #1: Twitter Followers Are Not Targeted

When people following you, you tends to follow them back to show your respect. It will dilute our follower list and make it not so targeted. It will further decrease your click through rate when you’re posting tweets with links. The case is only interested people will click the link although they’re following you. Do not expect to have a very good click through rate. So you might need a huge list to achieve your traffic goal.

Some people tend to employ another strategy which they only follow people that are interested in their conversation, products or services. In this scenario, your followers are well targeted and the click through rate should be much more better than another strategy mentioned above.

There are nothing wrong with these 2 strategies. You can choose either one based on your needs and goal.

Tip #2: Include A Link In Your Tweet

You should always include a link and only one to your website or blog post in your tweet if you want to increase website traffic. With more links in a single tweet, it will be treated as spam. We should try to make the life of your followers simpler and easier.

Tip #3: Understand Your Follower’s Timezone

With the globalization, your follower list might as well spread across different countries and timezone. You need to analyze and understand online timing of your followers. This will help you better connect and communicate with your followers. One of the good way to overcome timezone issue is to retweet your original post a few time at different timing. This will ensure most of your followers can see your tweet. But do not do it too frequent, else people will think that you’re spamming their Twitter stream.

Tip #4: Understand Your Follower Preference

Try your best to understand the preference of your followers such as their specific interest and what is the specific topics they’d like to read and etc. You can do the research by asking your followers directly. Another way is to monitor closely what are your readers reading, retweeting and talking about. These will greatly help you to create content more specific for your followers.

Once you better understand your readers, you’re able to create more appropriate content for them and this will result better click through rate.

Tip #5: Make It Viral And Ask For Retweet

One of the great benefits of Twitter is that it allows for content to spread rapidly and virally across the network and allows for many people to easily discover and share your tweets. Twitter users will share content that they find interesting and valuable for their network of followers.

A retweet could best be described as the act of sharing content discovered on Twitter to a network of followers or to ask for your followers to echo and share with their Twitter network.

Retweet is a good ways to break your follower limitation and reach as large as audience as possible. Always explicitly ask for retweet if you’d like to make the tweet go viral. One thing you need to take note is that do not use up all 140 characters in your tweet, leave around 20 characters for people to add in their comment in the retweet message.

Tip #6: Content Is King

Same as normal website and blog, content is always king. You should try to keep your tweet as simple, short, straight to the point as possible. With so many tweets people receive a minute or a day, they don’t have much time to spent on your lengthy tweets. I always try to only include main idea or main keywords in my tweet to keep it simple. Additionaly, one thing I always do is post something that you think will benefit your readers, do not post something that is too personal that your readers do not have interest to bother it.

Conclusion

First, you need to have a goal of you would like to achieve. Then you will need to prepare your strategy to meet your target. For some people, 1 trial is not enough to give them success. Give it a few tries and improve your skills, you’ll be rewarded finally.

I’m using this service to monitor my website’s position – http://monitor.mazecore.com . They provide rank and uptime monitoring with alerts, but position monitoring on free account is enough for me. I recommend this service with free tariff for your website.
