Excellent post, Bey.

The very nature of blogging, being competitive and a busy place to be, means as bloggers we have to go and find our own readers rather than letting them find us. By trying to build a relationship with everyone who comments on our blogs, we stand a much better chance of converting them in to subscribers.

I wholeheartidly agree that interacting with your blog’s commenters is a great way to drive visitor loyalty.

In addition, commenting on other related blogs helps you make connections within the industry. It’s also a good way to gain a bit of exposure.

You are missing something important. Put “Top Commentators” widget. Many think that people will comment just to be in the list but it is not true they will become more loyal and more frequent slowly when they see the list is really helping them.

I advice you to try it out.

By the way thanks for the tips it will be helpful to me. I am currently doing a contest and I know there will be many participating. I want to make them loyal to my blog.

Very informative blog — thanks for sharing.

I’m intrigued by the big subscription boxes at the top of your sidebar and at the bottom of your posts. Is this a plugin? I really like it!

@Tom,
Thanks for your great comment.
For subscription box at the top of the sidebar, I’m using default WordPress Text widget and put in HTML code myself.
For the subscription box at the bottom of each post, I’m using Add Post Footer plugin (http://www.freetimefoto.com/add_post_footer_plugin_wordpress) and put in my own HTML code.

The three major search engines are Google, Yahoo, and MSN, in order of importance. Google and Yahoo are the most popular used by a vast majority of internet searchers.
